  • H K E SOCIETY'S DR. MAALAKARADDY HOMOEOPATHIC MEDICAL COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL, KALABURAGI ESTD: 1980 H.K.E. Society’s Dr. Maalakaraddy Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital was established in 1980 under the visionary leadership of Dr. A. B. Maalakaraddy, the then President of the Society and a passionate advocate of Homoeopathy, with the aim of promoting this centuries-old system of medicine in the Hyderabad–Karnataka region. The institution began modestly with a small group of dedicated homoeopathic teachers and support from the faculty of its sister institution, M.R. Medical College. Dr. S. S. Shetty, the first Principal, played a pivotal role in nurturing the institution during its formative years.
  • Successive Presidents of the Society, including, Sri Sanganna Agadi, Poojya Sri Sharanabasavappa Appa, Dr. A.B. Malakareddy, Dr. B.G. Jawali, Poojya Sri Basavarajappa Appa, Sri Basavaraj Bhimalli, Dr Bheemashankar Bilgundi, Dr. Shashil G. Namoshi, MLC along with their Governing Councils, have provided strong leadership and special attention in developing the college into a pioneer institution in Karnataka, achieving several milestones in academics and administration. The college was the first institution in Karnataka to offer the B.H.M.S. degree course, initially admitting 50 students per year, which was increased to 100 in 2002–03. College was first affiliated with the Karnataka Board of Homoeopathic System of Medicine and later with Gulbarga University in 1996. With the establishment of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, the institution came under its affiliation and has been recognized by the Central Council of Homoeopathy, New Delhi, since its inception.
  • More than 5000 graduates have passed through the institution, many of whom have established successful professional careers in practice, academics, administration, and public service, including positions in legislative bodies. The college also became the first in the state to introduce postgraduate courses in Homoeopathy in 1995. The institution initially offered three specialties. Subsequently, the intake capacity was increased from three to six seats per specialty, and two additional specialties were introduced, thereby increasing the total number of specialties to five.
  • Dr. Satish Kalshetty is the present Principal of the institution. The distinguished former Principals include Dr. S. S. Shetty, Dr. P. Sampath Rao, Dr. Vijaya Laxmi, D, Dr. Renukant G. Lokre, & Dr. S. S patil, have contributed notably to the academic, administrative & infrastructural growth of the institution. The attached teaching hospital began with a 50-bed capacity and has since expanded to 75 beds, with separate wards for Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Paediatrics, supported by facilities such as X-ray, ECG, and laboratory services. The hospital is currently headed by Medical Superintendent Dr. Satish Kalshetty & Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Sagar Jambagi and operates multiple outpatient departments, specialty OPD & Inpatient departments, it provides facilities like yoga physiotherapy, Laboratory investigations and Radiological investigations, all the servicers are free of cost. The institution has adopted six nearby villages to provide affordable rural healthcare through peripheral OPDs.
  • The institution commenced its operations in a modest building and has since expanded to a well-established campus comprising a four-storey college building and a four-storey hospital building, both equipped with advanced teaching facilities and modern hospital amenities.
